Our Fair Trade Producers
We are currently working with two groups of Fair Trade producers, and hope to expand to other groups in the future.
The Stepping Stone Centre is a part of Asia Community Service's Support Centre for Community Living project, which provides a work place for people with special needs. The Centre aims to challenge society's conventions by offering people with intellectual disabilities work opportunities.
We love their motto: “ See our Abilities, not our Disabilities".
We first started working with Stepping Stone in 2009 with their Dish Wash soap made from recycled cooking oil. Our inputs improved the quality and saleability of this solid soap, and also their daily production capacity. Since then we have exported orders of this popular product to the USA and Japan.
A more recent development is that Dr. Mike Thair from Indochine Natural have perfected a low-energy method to produce a liquid dish wash from recycled cooking oil, and have now commenced training at the Stepping Stone Centre so that members will be able to produce this product in the near future and add it to their work and income earning opportunities.
More information is available on their website here: Stepping Stone Centre
New Loofah Growing Project in VietNam. Indochine Natural are currently in the early stages of setting up a new loofah growing activity in Central Viet Nam that will involve marginalized farmers in growing loofah, and disabled students producing a range of bathroom loofah products from the loofah produced by these farmers. Indochine Natural will provide the necessary capacity building for these producers, and market the finished products.
